FFX-2 Walkthrough - Chapter 4

It seems like with all the chaos going on around Spira, the Gullwings have come up with a plan to try to unite the people, a concert! Yup, Yuna is going to put on a concert, in the Thunder Plains of all places. But you need to convince everyone to come to your concert, and that includes the people from New Yevon and the Youth League. That's going to be quite the chore, isn't it? Chapter 4 represents the end of most of your freedom that you've enjoyed in the game thus far. Chapter 5 is a little better in this regard, but if you want to finish up everything in the game, we suggest that you do it before Chapter 4 starts.

Using the CommSphere
If you happened to visit every area of Spira in Chapter 3, you'll have the great opportunity to visit all of these areas without leaving the comfort of the Celsius, thanks to Shinra's Commspheres. He installs these little cameras whenever you visit an area in Chapter 3. If you didn't visit an area, then he doesn't install one. Sometimes a particular Commsphere doesn't work, but you'll get the opportunity to visit every location using these devices.

Once you start Chapter 4, head up to talk to Paine on the deck of the Celsius. Then after your conversation, talk to Shinra on the Bridge. Choose to look at the Commspheres and you'll be able to visit some areas. There are only a few that are operational from the beginning, but you should visit Besaid Island, Kilika Island, Mushroom Rock Road, and Bevelle. Those locations will provide you with a lot of scenes that will fill in some of the story for you. There are other locations that also give you some scenes, but the majority of them will either be non-functional or have nothing useful for you to use.

Once you are finished looking at the Commspheres, talk to Buddy and you'll get a rundown of the mission ahead of you. After that, talk to Shinra again and look at the Commspheres once more, as a lot of them will have new content for you to view. Remember, watching these Commspheres actually progress your story completion rating, so make sure to view every location at every opportunity you get. The most important one that you'll want to watch is the Commsphere on the Mi'hen High Road. Visiting this sphere will activate a sidequest, known as Rin's Investigation.

ImageRin's Travel Agency has asked Yuna for her help in solving the mystery behind the machinas going berserk on the High Road. If you happened to visit this location in Chapter 2 or 3, you'll understand what's going on. Basically, Rin wants you to switch between the seven cameras he has setup along the High Road in an effort to catch the culprit and bring him or her to justice. The controls for the camera are easy enough, and they're given to you on the screen. Your mission is to look for weird or suspicious activity in every area, and then call on Rin so that he may begin an investigation of the area. What constitutes suspicious activity? Usually if you see a person or an object that's moving on the screen that means something is wrong.

Unlike the other sidequests in the game, this particular quest will always be the same, no matter how many times you play through it.

The correct order you want to view the cameras is as follows: 2, 4, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 3, 1, 5

Saving Tolbi!
ImageThe Gullwings decide that they need the services of Tolbi in order to pull off a great concert, so head over to the Moonflow in order to find him. You'll notice that there's a group of guys after Tolbi, so you'll just have to chase him along with the rest of the pack. This mission is actually quite simple. All you have to do is follow Tolbi and his pursuers wherever they go. Soon, they'll head back into the Moonflow. You'll have some guy run past you, chasing Tolbi. Follow him and you'll end up back where you started this mission - then you'll have to go back to the Moonflow. Tolbi has escaped, but you can ride the Shoopuf across the Moonflow to follow him.

Go towards Guadosalam and you'll find him once again. Walk into the entrance of Guadosalam and you'll encounter Tolbi and his crew of workers. After a short conversation, he'll agree to help you and give you a Garment Grid for your trouble. Mission complete! Or is it? Once you have Tolbi on your side, make your way to his office in Guadosalam (it's underneath the entrance to the Farplane) and open the treasure chest there. You'll receive an accessory called Key to Success, a very powerful accessory for any of your characters, as it boosts attack power, hit points and luck, giving you a much better chance at dealing critical hits.

Time For A Rehearsal!
After rescuing Tolbi, go back to Shinra on the Celsius and view all of the Commspheres again. Visit every location you can in order to up your story completion rating. Once you have done this, go over to the Cabin and meet up with Rikku. It's time for Yuna to start practicing for her concert! You only get one shot at this mini-game, so make it count! All you have to do is press the buttons according to what's on Rikku's side of the screen. It's sort of like Dance Dance Revolution, but somewhat easier. The higher score, the better your chances of getting a better accessory.

After your rehearsal head back to the Bridge and talk to Shinra for some new scenes via the Commspheres. This time around, every location has something new, so make sure to visit all of them. The only ones you don't have to visit are the Calm Lands, Bikanel Desert, Bevelle and Luca. For some fun, check out Mount Gagazet's hot springs, as you'll see just about everyone there relaxing before the big concert!

Thunder Plains - Time to Slay the Dragon!
ImageBefore you can start your concert on the Thunder Plains, you're going to have to deal with a little monster problem that's popped up. A giant dragon has appeared on the plains, and for the sake of having everyone not eaten, it's up to YRP to go and take out the bad guy. Follow the red icon to the lair of the dragon, and then enter the dungeon. When you enter the dungeon, head left, and grab the treasure chests. You'll need to climb up to the middle route, which is used to find the dragon. Once you find him, it's time for a fight!

Boss: Zalamander (HP:MP - 7120:143)
ImageThis enemy is a lot like the boss you faced on Besaid way back in Chapter 1. In fact, it's exactly the same, only this time he's a lot stronger. Use a Songstress to cast Darkness Dance on him, and then use some Break powers to lower his defense and damage. Our recommended setup for this fight is to have a Songstress, Warrior and Dark Knight around, with the Songstress switching to a Dark Knight once you have lowered his defense and offense statistics to a point where his attacks do very little to you.

Once you have defeated this boss, you'll be back on the airship. It's almost time for the concert, so talk to Shinra, and then talk to Tolbi. Enjoy the wonderfully created FMV sequence. After the cutscene, you'll talk with Maechen on the Celsius. Once he has finished talking, head to the engine room to find the Leblanc Syndicate waiting for you. Leblanc will personally hand over a Crimson Sphere to you. Once you have talked with Leblanc, head to the Bridge and talk to Shinra. That's the end of Chapter 4!

I think so.

You get the percentage points all the same, so don't worry about it.

Thanks again

Thanks again, now i have 98% just a little more and i will get that ending, finally.I've got one more question,i red somewhere that you have to play those Gunners Gantlets and get one of them to lv6 and other(Cloister of trails)just to pass and then you'll get some % and GG.And that you need to get some kind of GG from Shinra by playing Sp. break once more using coin with rare item also to get %.Is that true cause i really don't feel like playing those gantlets and against Shinra again.

Yuna92 – Sun, 02/18/2007 – 11:27am

lol!

Whoever told you that is full of crud.
No, you only need to beat Beclem's record in chapter 3.
And no, that's just the treasure hunt garment grid, it's only there for fun, niether of those givce percentage, gunner's gauntlet, like i said, only gives percentage points by beating Beclem.

FFX8 number1 – Sat, 12/09/2006 – 6:17pm

zalamander was tooooo easy

zalamander was too easy for me all i had was level34 girls with rikku mixing a mega potion every turn and yuna and paine hacking away with ice brand(warior). nobody was master in anything.and i didn't have cat nip, dark knight or anything special. i don't know how i died the first time but the second time he died in about 2-3 minuets. btw is there any other way to get cat nip other than in the 2 chapter? pm me for answer

gamekiller – Wed, 08/15/2007 – 5:54am

Re: Zalamander

AGREED.
too easy to be a boss fiend,
i just uses alchemist forh ealing and then attacked with, samurai (much more fun than warrior, but doesnt do much of a difference)

there are several different ways to get cat-nip,
but most people just stick to cloister infinito XD

Beat Everyone EASY!

I'm a level 99 and I have result plate and the acssory Gravity Quake, obtained in the Bevelle underground when you defeat the monster Greater Mainyu (No, not Angra Mainyu). You'll always be given the gravity quake, which raises your strenght by 1000, unfortunately it works in Chapter 5 only and the Greater Mainyu is nearly impossible to defeat (I was Level 94 then!). Raising your strenght by 1000 is already the max, the Cat Nip or whatever lets you go to 99 999 damage instead of 9999. When I hit, it's about 14,000 damage. I killed Shuyin in 2 turns and Vegnaguns body parts 2 turns each. Angra Mainyu is like a toy now, just a bunch of rounds and in 2 minutes he's dead, Greater Mainyu is still not easy however, it takes like 10 minutes which may seem little but is a lot, to defeat him. I scanned him and he has 999 999 hp and 9999 magic. He is immune to all magic except for water, which he asbsorbs so that's worse. He attacks about 900, so I have the acessory that gives you break hp limit, gotten when you push Tobli in the elevator in Ch2 if you didn't get the Gun Mage in Ch1. My life is 44 376 for Yuna and a little lower for Rikku and Paine. I Turned Yuna into her Special Dressphere and cast Ultima Whirl over and over again, then I cast barrier and something else that protects attacks fully, I was immune to everything for a few turns so I turned my party in and healed, then back to Floral Fallal. I cast Great Whirl many times and White Pollen a lot. Then my life got low so I changed by dying once more then used Phoenix Down and X potion to revive myself, I turned into Paine and used Wisenen and Ma'at's feather, he had 573 256 hp left then I died and used the samething for Paine as I did Yuna and hacked at him, it was much faster and better because my life and damage were above max, so I thought I was stupid and hacked at him for 5 minutes and then turned into Gunmage and scanned him, 329 436 Hp I had mastered everything in Berserker for Yuna, Dark Knight for Paine and Alchemist for Rikku. I combined Great Gem and Ultima Gem to create Great Ultima Blast, 99 999 damage and then got Rikku to combine Mega Pheonix with three X - Potions, Paine used Charon, Yuna turned to a Dark Knight and mimicked Paine and I used the potion I just mixed up to fully revive us. Then I hacked again and agagin until he died and got 10 levels up, It would have gave me more if I had not been right under the maximum. As predicted, I mastered the Dresspheres I used, then I got to save before I died and went to the Celsius.

Re: beat everyone easy

thats greta and all, but i just have one question.
Why would you bother using a 9,999 hit on shuyin OR Vegnagun.
I killed all of them with only 1 turn appiece.

ingeniuous though, i might try using gravity quake to take out Paragon & trema, next time im in ch.5
thnx ^^
