Silent Hill (future game) x Kojima
Now, I know this place isn't heavily infested with SH fans, but I still thought this piece of information has great potential for the future.
While there isn't a new Silent Hill title confirmed, plans to make one are naturally on the board. The interesting thing is that Hideo Kojima was approached with the question of whether he'd like to direct the next one. This is what he said.
"
Honestly, I'm kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror movies, so I’m not confident I can do it. At the same time, there’s a certain type of horror that only people who are scared of can create, so maybe it’s something I can do.
That said, I think Silent Hill has a certain atmosphere. I think it has to continue, and I’d love to help it continue, and if I can help by supervising or lending the technology of the FOX Engine, then I’d love to participate in that respect."
I don't "hate" Kojima, but I have an old thorn in the side regarding the Metal Gear series, which is ridiculous, especially since I pretty much loved the entirety of MGS4. Also, I greatl respect Kojima for his abilities and work on games.
When I saw his statement, I decided I definitely think he holds the potential to steer the series right after Team Silent and Yamaoka left the franchise. Alone Kojima's comment about the atmosphere of the game and wanting to keep that made me see this guy definitely knows how to treat stuff that isn't originally his own. He has the respect and insight needed to take on a project like this, I imagine. I just don't know if he has the obscure mindset that is required to create the riddles and world that Silent Hill encompasses.
Aaaanyway, I like this and I kinda do hope he gets to put his hands on this. And with the Fox engine, I think Kojima could take the animation level of the SH series to new hights not reached since SH2 in its own time.
