When exactly did everyone start leaving this place anyway?
I think when all of Derek's lies started to surface, and the owner's "we don't care about this site" attitude a couple of years ago people simply gave up.
I thought it started to happen after that dramatic episode with beeness. I distinctly remember going on a Zera break about that time and, when I returned, there was barely any activity. =\

No we weren't dead then just slow, but we properly died with the Derek stuff. With no one around with the power to fix things there was little the staff could do. Even the adbot problem isn't properly fixed. Even kh news and ff news isn't been posted up anymore.

In some absurd way, I can't help but think all the drama was part of what kept people coming. There was always something going on and people always had some sort of role to play in what was happening... Only the fewest or newest weren't involved. When Derek left, things just started dying slowly... And because there wasn't any exciting drama feed anymore, people lost interest... Kinda gave people time to realize how bad the drama was making people feel (even if they couldn't help but revel in it)... So while people did have fond memories of the place, some of them turned a little sour.
Then there's the stuff Chips and Habs mentioned with limited access to the forum as newly subscribed users and all that crap Derek started... Which hampered new influence and therefore blocked potential for keeping things interesting... Although I do get it with all those bots. Owner security updates that were far in between and always only very temporary.
Really though, I think that's just the easiest conclusion and definitely a reason... But the truth is still - as I see it - that times just changed. People grew up and other social media became more popular (Facebook etc, I feel we have had this chat before). For this reason the little forums also died out and only the larger more famous (or easily google searched) forums gained priority. Generalizing now though, because I don't think the majority of the people that stopped coming here actually use any sort of forum like this anymore... And if they do, they should pop by and say so, lol!
There is ONE other thing to note, that I think might have been the nail in the coffin for a lot of the old timers, but it's not something I'm at liberty to talk about. Not that anyone would really care if I ended up foregoing it.
On a side note, I think I sometimes underestimate the whole bee thing. I wasn't there when it all happened, if I remember correctly. Maybe I was away for some weeks... Or maybe I just wasn't involved in any sort of way through the whole thing, because I was only told later by Bee and I didn't see much change other than Bee being banned... But considering how much it has been talked about since, yeah, must have been bigger than I thought.
