- Background/Biography:
The subject of scandal since her conception, infamous escort Elisabette Morgaines very existence is rooted in notoriety. Though born a bastard child of aristocratic lineage, Lisette was nurtured and matured against the poverty-stricken backdrop of the Treno slums.
Her mother, Calpurnia Traviata, was an operatic soprano, renowned throughout Avonia for her harmonious performances in Alexandrias Royal Opera House. Yet beyond the symphonic rapture of her exquisite voice laid a further passion, an unyielding romantic desire; Calpurnia was entangled in an illicit and adulterous liaison with the wealthy Viscount Xavier Beauchamp. Beauchamp was a capricious and hedonistic noble; driven by lust, in life he sought solely the sensual. Beautiful but naive, Calpurnia was helpless to resist his wooing, and while he emotionlessly enjoyed the pleasures of her body, she developed an ardent devotion for him. Blinded by this non-mutual love, Calpurnia became Beauchamps mistress.
Some years into their relationship, the fickle, self-indulgent Viscounts eye began to stray and he lost interest in the elegant soprano. Unable to deal with this rejection, Calpurnia sought indulgence in liquid form; now a lovesick drunk, her health rapidly deteriorated, dragging her once untouchable career down with it. In a rare display of emotion, perhaps fuelled by pity, upon spying his pathetic, pleading lover of an evening, the Viscount agreed to share a final embrace with her. However this would be Calpurnias undoing, since she was to fall pregnant.
Nine months later, after an intensely painful labour, a fragile shell of a woman gave birth to a baby girl. While daughter was healthy, mother was dying. The pain of childbirth shattered the frail Calpurnia until in a final act of maternal compassion she named her child Elisabette, and entrusted her to her elderly seamstress, Madame Margot Morgaine.
Madame Morgaine didnt take to motherhood. Having spent her life as a spinster, the sudden responsibility of anothers child was monumental. Furthermore, this was only complicated by Lisettes sheer unruliness. After years of struggling with one another, at age ten, a headstrong Lisette ran away from her home with Madame Morgaine in Alexandria by stowing away aboard an unknown airship.
The vessel arrived in Treno, Gaias Dark City. It is here that Lisette developed into the cunning and cynical youth she is today, living by thievery and prostitution. Though perhaps her adolesence may be seen by some as shameful, Lisette is too proud to consider it so for even an instant. Always in control, she has only ever done what was necessary for her survival, as conditioned by her situation. Lisette's current lifestyle has made her rather successful.
