    My Signature Journey Gallery

Hi all, I have been designing for quite some time now so I want to share my works from past to present here including some signature practices.

Lemme start off with my time with the first forum I've been into since I got on the internet. At that time, I was just only introduced to signature making as well digital art. I was using a Macbook with PhotoShop CS2 and I was complete new to either signature designing as well as image hosting services. I joined a forum called Square Forums, a fan-made forum. I was a troublemaker there that I even made a group but within that group, I found time to design some of first signatures. Most of them are lost now but here's three pieces I'd recovered:

After a while, I found myself designing for factions in Gametrailers.com. I was still not very good at signature making yet eventhough I was using (and still currently using) an iMac with PhotoShop CS3. Here are some sigs I've created during my time there:

Earning a bit of experience, I continued to make signatures for requests as years passed in Gametrailers.com, then active in a faction called GFX Faction:

To increase my designing skills, I practiced more on signatures. I just designed whatever came to my head:

    *

    * This one cause controversy within the GFX Faction. It was a theme for Insane Sanity. I made into an artform touching on lesbianism, sisterhood, abuse, hopeless, lost, destruction and difference. I only use a custom brushes and three colors max. With the title 'Can you help me?' provokes the viewer to ask back what was there to help with. It was a hot topic amongst the members. One criticises it for 'overly simply' and 'lack of skill' while others contemplate the meaning of the picture.

After a while at GFX Faction, I quitted after having an argument with founder and went solo. Here was my last contribution to the faction before abruptly leaving without saying a single word:

It wasn't long before many other members requested my designing aid at Gametrailers.com. I was already good by then. One of them has me a project I'm currently on. It didn't involved any signatures, most of them are large art pieces that I do not want to show for now.

Months passed and I found myself yet again designing signatures, this time for Ubisoft official forums where I'm now currently active in a thread to do signature requests. Here's what I've done since I'm there:

Larger version of some the sigs are also available:

That's most of my signature artwork for the last 5 or 6 years. For now, I'm currently making another sig and I have more on queue.

    Hope you enjoyed the gallery.

There's a lot of nice banners, but for everyone I like there's another I dislike, lol. I always appreciate people who avoid just the simple box shape, and in some cases you've avoided that with great success. You clearly have a very good grasp on the software, and your technique is strong, but I feel you have a problem with balance that can sometimes make these graphics seem more amateurish than they are. I lol'd at the explanation of your "artform". You're not Warhol, lol trying to explain your "vision" is silly and pretentious, especially on the internet. Although I'm sure they appreciate that on DeviantArt, lol. Also the "Simple" signatures are ridiculously contrived. Anyway, as I said impressive technique. Good job.

    Re: My Signature Journey Gallery

    Thank you.

80% of these sigs (not banners) is, admittedly, not my best works, it's pretty much just practice just getting to know both PhotoShop and form and also to have fun. But starting on Ubisoft official forums, when a person who requested told me to be on my best, I didn't hold back. I held back some my skills when I was at GFX Faction at Gametrailers.com because I saw there were too many who designed without any core knowledge. This is why most of my works look rather basic and amateurish - I do not want most of them to feel discouraged. I brought out my real skills at Ubisoft and regarded as the best sig maker over there that I mentor some of less skilled ones. The latest sig works are the last ones in the gallery though I'm not satisfied with one of them.

Every artist, Warhol (yes, I know who Andy Warhol is) or whoever, needs to explain their artform, either visually or through their own explanation. You may think it's illogical on the Internet especially in forums and that I'm attempting to impress but no, I aim to communicate when I created the 'Can You Help Me?' sig. Art is nothing more than expressionism. You'll be surprised and I expect that you won't believe me if I said most people (yes, even young people) like this eventhough it was a controversial piece and wants me to express my 'visions' more artistically in which I'm not in a disagreement. This leads me to make a large art based on the same artform which also gained attention.

The "Simple" signatures? That was only practice in getting to know typography even better by using composition (I'm sure you know what I meant by composition, don't you?).

Thank you again for the comment.

PS. Also, I saw some of your designs, too, .A2, in a thread that you posted in the same section. If you don't mind some critique: Most of them are good but could be better. Put more creativity, time and effort into it.

    Re: My Signature Journey Gallery

There's some I like and some I don't, mostly because of my taste. It took me a long time to look through all of them :o, like Ben already said some look fantastic and some look not so great, but you just said you were practising with them Mostly I do like it, seems you have an unique style. Can I ask which is your most recent one?

And on a side note if you want to critique Ben's work then I suggest you do it in his thread, a vague critique like the one you just gave doesn't help anyone.

    Re: My Signature Journey Gallery

Hello, habbo. How are you doing nowadays? I'm not sure you'll remember me since I left years ago. Perhaps 'annoying' could ring a bell... or not. Nice to see you again.

My most recent work in the gallery is the LachHanholt's one though I'm not satisfied with it. I may alter it if I feel like it.

I'm not going to stay active in this forum. I'm just here to visit and post some things along the way so that's why I don't comment at .A2's thread or give too much critique here. Also, I'm sure .A2 understands what I'm saying, he is nonetheless creative and has potential.

Derp. A "sig" is a banner that goes into the signature section of your post. So they are banners.

Right about here you started sounding like a dick. Of course you were holding back, that why some of them look bad. How logical.

No-one cares that you're "the best", especially on another forum. Shouldn't your art (lol) speak for itself? Furthermore since you insist that your internet graphics are art (they're not - we'll get on to that) how does one qualify one artist's oeuvre as superior to another's? Art is innately subjective.

Of course you do. I in no way implied you didn't. If I'd wanted to show you up, as you seem to have imagined I did, I would've used an example other than potentially the most famous artist ever.

How flawed. I'm assuming you've never heard of intentional fallacy. The art speaks for itself, or it's not art.

    This is not art.

The URL, lol. I wasn't wrong about DeviantArt.

I am feeling so patronised, I should probably kill myself. (I'm sure you know what I mean by patronised, don't you?) I'm unable to see what practice you gained by simply filling a background with green and rotating some text around. I stand by original statement. Contrived. Your above post only confirms that.

You're so grateful that you took it upon yourself to reject everything I said, lmao.

ITT: A defensive attention seeker who spurns constructive criticism and counters honesty by being ridiculously condescending, lol. You don't care about honesty, you came here looking for people to say they liked your "art". Well sorry, but I don't mask my opinions to make the "artist" feel better about themselves.

In other words, you have nothing to contribute and you're shamelessly seeking out feedback. Though you only want positive feedback, lol.

Habbo's the mod, she's enforcing the rules. The rules say you ought to post comments about someone else's graphics (should that be "art"? lol) in their respective threads. Please follow the rules as she asked.

You're certainly on a roll, lmao. I'll actively accept any criticism anyone has to offer, and I'm a harsh critic myself, but these are just empty words you're using to try and reinforce your self-believe in your own superiority, and therefore mean nothing. Come back when you have something useful to add.

    Tsk, tsk, tsk. Oh my.

It seems you have trouble communicating with most people.

A harsh critic you claim yourself? My, my, my.

You just make me laugh, my friend.

Continue living in your own little world and have a good day.

look z.j. it's quite simple if you can't take the critism even if it is negative then don't post up here. Ben communicated himself quite clearly to you and if you can't handle the fact that he just gave you harsh but helpful advice then that's your problem. Ben attacked your work not you, and what do you do? You attack him directly, that wont be tolerated on the forum and it stops now.
