Unlimited Saga: Who's Your Favorite Character? and stuff

I have had Unlimited Saga for a few years now, and yet I have never finished one of the storylines. Why? Because each of them are just so good that I can't pick which one to compete.

In case you have no idea what I am talking about, Unlimited Saga is a Square Enix game that lets you choose who you want the main character to be. You eventually meet up with the other characters regardless of storyline choice. Then, you complete missions and quests in any order you choose, altering the game to your liking.

If you haven't played the game, you should. And if you have, which one is your favorite and why?

As of this moment, my favorite is Judy. She goes on a journey to find her family that has been transported to different places because of some dastardly fellow who traps Judy's grandfather in a mirror.

She is the ultimate summoner/magic user also. That's is also a plus.

Interestingly, I never completed a scenario with a character either. I think it remains the only SE game I played where I never finished with any character. I stopped when I reached Avalon with Laura because I thought I had finished the main game back then and I tried playing the game with other characters too. I still feel I need to replay and properly complete this game some day. I have a deep respect for the game. As I remember it, it's really one of the harder tactical games I've played though. Mostly because you take 1 step and a monster starts tracking you forever until you have no other way but to fight or the enemy catches up with you. The time you use to prepare and heal for the next moves then just end up attracting more monsters and the cycle continues. Also makes backtracking near impossible if you want to survive... And there are so many missables. Simple things that are gone forever and can't be redone if you don't make sure to get it done the first time around, and sometimes completing a side-quest takes 1 or more hours... So when you end up losing or missing something, rage awakens, lol.

But yeah, deep respect for the game. It must be the game I have had the very hardest time understanding and controlling ever, but that's part of the charm (back then it was frustrating, lol).

The first time I played, I chose Mythe. I knew that his journey would be hard, but I was cocky. I thought, "Hey! I am no amateur to video games. I can do this no problem." I learned the hard way that this SE game is not like the others.

Also, when I heard Mythe speak forthe first time, I was blown away. I was all "No way, that's Edward Elrich from Full Metal Alchemist!"

I have gotten the farthest with Laura's and Judy's stories. After the festival scenes of each one, I just stopped. I am really going to have to play this again. Maybe we'll have to make a LP thread and play together. We could encourage each other to actually finish at least one character.

LOL. I suppose it's not all that bad of an idea. Only problem is that my list of games to play is so vast and tight that making room for it will be hard ._.

But maybe some day.

I played with the mage girl once and found the voice acting too awful to keep me interested. In the end I never grasped the gameplay much and gave up on it. Original game-art style though!
