    Pitch XIII-3 [Spoilers]

The status quo shifts so dramatically in the final few minutes of XIII-2, that the ending doesn't really offer much closure. The inclusion of the teaser of "To Be Continued..." indicates that we can expect some sort of conclusion. Too many dangling threads are introduced to be solved satisfyingly enough by the addition of DLC. These elements require resolution. The odds of a potential XIII-3 therefore seem rather good -- whether we want it or not. This is how things stand:

    - Serah: Dead. Cursed with the Eyes of Etro, Serah could see into alternate timelines. Every vision drained her of her life-force, until on destroying the final paradox and changing the course of history, she glimpsed into the future and perished.

    - Lightning: Crystal Stasis. Abducted away to Valhalla to defend the goddess Etro against the immortal Caius, Lightning was forced to wage an eternal war she knew she could not win. After dragging her sister to her defence, the futility of the situation became clear, and so she rendered herself crystal, escaping death.

    - Noel: Instigator of the Apocalypse. The only man capable of destroying Caius, Noel shattered the Heart of Chaos which once beat in his enemy's chest, but did not harness its power for himself, thus killing the goddess. The world became consumed in darkness as time splintered.

    - Caius: Victorious. Witness to the endless cycle of death and rebirth that plagued his beloved, Caius succeeded in destroying time itself, thereby liberating Yeul. He now occupies the goddess's throne in Valhalla.

    - Hope: Incompetent. Benevolent dictator to all peoples in 500 AF, Hope's research brought a new (unneeded) artificial world into being: Bhunivelze. He assisted Noel and Serah in their quest to save not only his friends, but time itself. In doing so however, they wrought chaos, transforming the Visible World into Valhalla.

    - Snow: L'Cie. Lost somewhere in time, Snow is subject to the whims of the Fal'Cie, cursed with an unknown Focus that will either force him into an eternal crystal stasis, or render him a shambling Cie'th, but lets him use an incestuous motorbike either way.

    - Fang & Vanille: Crystal Lesbians. Freed from the burden of the crystal pillar that once supported the now redundant world of Cocoon, Fang & Vanille continue to slumber eternally.

    - Sazh: Ludomaniac. Lost between life and death, the most skilled pilot in the world (despite 500 years of technological advancement) found himself in a precarious situation where he had to gamble for his very survival. He is now endowed with the mystical ability to receive high-fives through the rooves of aircraft.

    - Mog: Impotent. Sensing the death of the goddess, Mog's bobble deflated. His state of consciousness is unknown.

    - Alyssa: Traitorous. Evil bitch Alyssa's whereabouts are unknown. With all paradoxes resolved, it is presumed that she died and is buried in the Bresha Ruins.

    - Jihl: Spectacular. This buxom beauty transcends life and death. She is eternal.

    - Chocolina: Vacuous and Tenacious. Selfish airhead cum stalker, the monstrous fusion of human and bird that is Chocolina, cares not what happens to the world as long as you buy from her. Given that she maintains the monopoly on all goods across all time periods, it is impossible to escape her.

With all this in mind, how do you see XIII-3 happening?

The ending seems to rule out any sort of possibility for time travelling so it's unlikely a third game would have such gameplay element at least. So with that said, I wonder what happened to Snow and how his dlc - and others - will reveal anything that won't automatically be obsolete by the end of the game lol.

    FF13-3:

    - Fang and Vanille awake from their crystal stasis now that Etro is dead. Possible team: Fang, Vanille, Noel, Hope, Sazh. This would be mega balls lol.
    - - - Whatever the team is, it looks like they could be facing Caius again. But I don't see how that would change anything as it is.

    - Serah isn't "really" dead (although I hope she is). I'm thinking about Caius in secret ending? He should be dead too.
    - - - If this would crossover with FFversusXIII somehow, maybe Serah's seen the light and now has super powers lolol. (This would make her and Caius the most powerful beings of New Valhalla.)

    - But on a more serious note, if Barthendelus theory in XIII was correct, now that the Door of Souls finally became wide open, the Maker should return. Maybe Pulse ad Lindzei will therefore be the compelling arc somehow.

That's all I got right now. I mean, the fact the world is now "void of time" gives Square quite a range. Kinda cheap lol.

I don't remember exactly but did Yeul keep telling Serah they were the same or just similar?
I'm hoping it doesn't lead to a "well, this Serah died but a there's a new one now"

It might. But that would mean the "new" Serah would be from a future generation and that would entail the passage of time which was blocked by the end of the game events. But who knows lol. I hope not too.

    About Caius

Although Caius dies in the final battle, we see him alive in the secret ending,. This does not mean that there are multiple version of Caius that have been manipulating events from a different timeline. Quite the opposite: the Caius that 'dies' in Valhalla (a timeless place) is the same one that we see in the secret ending. His is a paradoxical existence that already knows how the battle ends and will still not stop until he reaches that end. His 'death' only strengthens his resolve, as even this did not alter the course of events. The goddess died nonetheless, which is what he fought for all along.
Quoted from the interbview with Daisuke Watanabe in the piggybank collectors guide.

But anyaway if there is a ffxiii-3 then I would say that Fang and Vanille would awake and Fang would be the lead character, only she can now save this story!

Edit: Also Snow may not be dlc I've seen Square hinting somewhere Snow's story maybe a novel, which sucks.

    Blitz Squadron VS The World.

I think the character line-up will probably be Sazh, Hope, Noel, Lightning, Fang and Vanille.

I somehow think Snow will be written out of a playable character role, but will be an important NPC mainly due to his l'Cieness. It would be awesome if you had the choice of Fang OR Vanille.

I planned to maybe write more in this thread at a later date when I have seen all the endings, but before I forget I just want to point something interesting out.

I also believe there is now ground for a new story about the return of Bhunivelze. The base mythology of FNC and Barthandelus's whole purpose... Never really thought it would come to happen like this, and so soon. It's big stuff, lol. But it might not happen...

Anyway, that wasn't my point... What I wanted to mention was the fact that it in a way already happened. When the old Cocoon fell, Bhunivelze (the new Cocoon) rose. I think a lot about this because I don't think it's coincidental symbolism. Whether that pretty much concludes the prophecy right there or if there will be an actual "Maker" to return - which I still easily can imagine with the whole mythology and all - is unknown.
But yeah, just wanted to point that out, lol.
