    Silent Hill: Gates of Hell

OOC: This is for the story online, those who wish to join please post a character profile here http://www.squareforums.com/showthread.php?t=91583 and await my approval.

    Emily

It had all started a few days ago when I received a letter from my cousin Hailey urging me to return to Silent Hill. At first I was very skeptical on how genuine the letter was considering the countless attempts The Order have made to drag me back into their cult to take the role of head priestess for which my entire childhood from birth was geared towards. It would have just seemed like another attempt at luring me back using my cousin's name as bait.

But something deep down made me think twice though, like a small sixth sense I have telling me that this might have been real. I had to make sure either way, if it was from Hailey then it really was urgent and I would have to face my fear and return to that hell hole. I had to go to the Freedom HQ to check for it's authenticity, they would know if it was real or not considering the little contact we were allowed with each other had to go through them.

"Emily what brings you here after all this while?" John head of Freedom asked as I walked into his office.

"It's this letter." I replied handing the letter over "It claims to be from Hailey, at first glance I was skeptical but then I had that feeling I get sometimes making me think this is true."

John read over the letter carefully before walking out of the office for a while, my nerves started to take hold of me and my mind started to wander thinking all the possibilities. What if it is a trap and I don't go but they come to me, what if it is real and I don't go what would happen to Hailey? My worries did not last long as John returned with some expert on hand writings.

“Well Emily, it’s official this letter was from your cousin. The handwriting is spot on in comparison to the rest of your cousin’s letters. Also they have never addressed you by that name.”

”I see.” I replied rising from my chair taking the letter and walking towards the exit. ”Well I’ll be going then.”

“Wait you are not thinking of going back there, after everything they put you through?” John said concerned holding onto my arm.

”How can I not go, my cousin is there alone and I owe her for helping me get out of there. Plus we are only meeting in the observation deck that is just outside of town and barely under it’s influence.” I reassured him, gently removing his hand. ”If it is a trap I can quickly escape the way I come in I should be fine.”

I exited the office and jumped onto my motor bike and turned back to John taking the letter from his hand. ”Also the Order will not harm me, Remember in their eyes I am the head priestess. Too important to be caused direct harm on.” I joked before speeding off in the direction of Silent Hill.

That was a few hours ago, now I’m nearing what is the edge of Silent Hill. The clear skies had now started to turn foggy, I knew that this meant that I was not going to be in the normal sea side town and this was not going to be a quick in and out job something big was going to go down that I was to be involved with something big perhaps they knew of my arrival and this was a trap.

I soon made it to the observation deck car park as my bike cut out. It would seem that someone didn’t want me to leave quickly and I was starting to believe this trip was a big mistake but there was no turning back now. I dismounted my now useless bike and started to walk to the far side of the deck towards where the benches are where there sat through the fog a face that seemed familiar from all those years ago. A little older and a more mature look in her eyes but there was no doubt of who she was, it was Hailey sitting there waiting like she said she would in the letter waiting for me.

I could hardly contain my excitement at seeing her again, I really wanted to just run up to her and give her a hug for our first meeting since we were separated after our escape. But deep down I realised it would not be appropriate for the situation or that she would even approve considering she is a marine now something like this might insult her, hell she may not even recognise me anymore. Instead I would be more dignified, I took off my crash helmet and ruffled my purple dyed hair a bit before walking up to her and saying. ”Hailey, long time no see cous. So what is so important that you dragged me to this hell whole, you miss me that much.” I started, trying to stop myself rambling on while trying to stop myself grinning too much.

    Willow

Willow had just been in to town to pick up some goods. Working for Freedom ment that he didn't get the best shifts in the world, but when he did get one there was only one thing he wanted to do. Eat! Having bought a bag full of bagels and butter he was ready for a feast. As he was walking down the corridor to his room he heard a group talking.

    'So shes just gone?'

    'On her own?!'

'And John just just let her go?'

'What are you rabble talking about?'

'Emily, you know the girl. Well she gota letter that was from her cousinasking her to meet her in silent hill'

    'What do you mean cousin'

'Well, the experts say its her handwriting, but I dunno sounds fishy to me'

'And John just let her go!' throwing his bag at the group Willow charged in to Johns office.

'What the hell were you thinking!' he said slamming the door behind.

'What do you mean? And who are you to charge in to my room like this?!'

'You let Emily, just walk right in silent hill?! Are you mad!'

'It was her decsion, I was'nt going to stop her'

'Do you not remember what the 'people' of silent hill did to her?

'Of course I do, but none the less it was something she needed to do'

'And you didn't think to send anyone with her?!'

'She can take care of her self, shes a big girl'

'Thats bull and you know it. If any of us go in to Silnt Hill we do in in groups! Thats what you told me when I first joined freedom'

'If you care that much, then why don't you go after her, she didn't leave that long ago'

Willow didn't say anything for a moment, he had'nt been in silent hill for some time now.

    'Fine I will!'

With that he walked out, made his way to his motor bike and began his journey.

It didn't take him long to find her parked bike. It was getting misty now. He could'nt see much but he could see two figures in the distance, he knew one of them had to be Emily. His gun was loaded and at his side.

    ~*{Glenn Vilaw}*~

The old God once demanded, after surveying His devastated lands, that he, a man most righteous of his generation, should build a vessel which would house his bloodline, the blood of honour and decency. Then, He lay waste to that despicable world, summoning endless torrents to drown the evils and squelch the dark fires of sin. This was my God. This was how he had resolved man’s inevitable failures. Where had He gone? Why did He not remove such filth now when His subjects need Him? He had abandoned His children. Yes, He abandoned us all and so we, too, must absolve to turn toward a God more concerned with the well-being of His charges.

I had just received a visit from Emily who was mentioning a “friend” of hers and a predicament. She received a phone call, as it were, that an aunt of hers was ill and she was told to return home. Emily’s friend had an abusive father and he would also be in attendance when she returned so she was unsure of her actions. Despite her intricate roundabouts, I knew this was a call meant to persuade our high priestess back home, but she was still unsure of the Order’s intentions. Her upbringing had been harsh at times, but it was necessary for her to fully understand the virtue it bestowed upon her.

“I’m sure her aunt should mean more to her than even the worst of fathers. Tell her, it would be best to go, try to reach an understanding with her father, but at the very least, return for her aunt. You know family is one of the many values society no longer appreciates.” I had told her.

To this, she fidgeted, looking away in deep thought. I smiled slightly, knowing what her actions would be. She could not deny her rightful place. After sharing some light conversation, she hugged her dear professor and said she’d be on her way.

Once her motorcycle vanished beyond the horizon, I walked back into my house, mind filled with joy and relief. The Order could finally settle its conflict. Immediately, I made for my phone, calling one of my mentors in my early years with them.

“I have wonderful news!” I chirped into the speaker, “Ms. Jones is returning to Silent Hill. I will be returning, as well. I cannot wait to pack!”

The tone she used on the other end stunted my parade, “Glenn… Watch over her. There’s a lot that’s happened since you’ve gone. The Order… Take care of the priestess.”

With that, she hung up and I was left to my own devices. What had happened? Well, she had advised me to keep an eye on Emily and that was what I intended to do. I had come this far; there was no way I could allow anything to destroy what I had worked so hard to build. God will not be defiled again!

Going to my garage, I entered my old Chevrolet Chevelle and headed for Silent Hill. It was dark by the time I entered the city limits, but as fate would have it, there was Emily, at the observation deck to my left, seemingly conversing with a girl I faintly remembered. Exiting the vehicle, I gave a holler to the two, waves gently as a surprised Emily slowly waved back. Naturally, I had told my priestess that I had some history with Silent Hill, though she never wanted to discuss the subject. Until this moment, I was not supposed to know she bore any knowledge of it.

“Evening, Ms. Jones. Who is your lovely friend?” I asked as I neared.

I leapt from the hood of the car, and onto the tar, lowering my sunglasses over my eyes. My lips formed a small, yet welcoming, smile for my cousin.

Emily hadn't changed much. Her personality was the same, as well as her physical appearance, albeit gaining a quite few inches and filling out. Most notably was her hair, though, which she had dyed blue.

"You kept me waiting long enough, Em. I was starting to get worried," I half-joked.

"With this town the way it is, I would have worried, too," she replied, leaning against the door of the car. "I take it there's no time for catching up?"

"Heh. You could say that." I looked to the town... into the fog. "There is a war has worsened, Emily."

She walked to me, slowly, with her arms crossed. "And I thought it couldn't get any worse."

A sigh escaped me. "That's why I wrote you. This 'war' has ripped at the town so much, 'nightmares' have occurred more than ever." I turned my head to look into Em's eyes. "Just a few minutes in there, and I experienced my first ever. Almost another before I left town. I can't explain the hell I saw..."

Her eyes closed and her head lowered. "I still remember it... to this day, I do," she said. "But... why you, now?" Her head shook a bit. "If this war has worsened, then we need to do something about it. It's just... Order... if they find us..."

That's when I smirked. "If they want to **** with us..." After taking my keys out, I hustled to the trunk of my car, unlocking and opening it. Firearms, grenades, and other military-issued weaponry could be seen. "... we'll give them a nightmare."

I watched as Em's eyes grew wide, then reverted back to normal. "Even with this protection, it can't save us from some other... things."

The mist hung low on the drive to Silent Hill. The scenery was dark, which caused Jessie to shudder with anxiety. Merely two hours ago she had left for this mysterious town. The letter she had received was cryptic in appearance. The parchment that was used looked and felt as if it was hand-made. She felt as if she was making a mistake. She thought back to what she was leaving and what she was heading to. Her music store had had just opened and she couldn’t bear to just leave it behind. The more she thought about what she was doing was foolhardy. Almost turning right back from where she came from, Jessie convinced herself this trip wouldn’t take too long. It wouldn’t only take a day or two to finish up her business in Silent Hill.

Starting to feel the effects of fatigue, she rolled down the window to get some fresh air. Gazing out the window, she noticed the land around her was old and cragged. The once beautiful scenery quickly faded as she drew closer to Silent Hill. The roads too a more derelict form than before. Streetlights, bent at an odd angle, and the opacity of the water had grown murky. Something wasn’t right about her surroundings.

She decided to turn on the radio to relax. Hopefully they have a station way out here in the bum-**** of nowhere she thought to herself. Right as she switched on the radio a static noise emitted from the speakers. While tuning the radio, the sound stayed the same. Bad reception she thought.

For some unknown reason the car started to lose speed. Jessie revved the engine, or at least tried to before the car slowed to a stop. Getting out of the drivers seat, Jessie was frustrated. This piece of junk car has been in her families for ages, no wonder it died right when she needed it. Scanning the area for any signs of help, she found nothing, just a forest to one side and the lake on the other. Jessie looked ahead and only one thought crossed her mind.

“Guess there’s only one way to go,” Jessie said as she turned heels and headed in the direction she was heading. As she lost sight of the car she just remembered her purse, which held her cellphone, the map, all her money, a can of MACE, and her brothers keepsake, a heart-shaped locket. She usually never took off her brother’s memento but the flask had broken the night the letter arrived.

Knowing she needed these items, she turned and headed back towards her car. She had already walked about a one-fourth of a mile before she remembered her things. Hating, having to walk the rest of the way and now having to walk back to where she begun made Jessie even more tired of this trip.

“I doubt it was a good idea to come here,” she muttered to herself, "I don’t even now who it was from. It could have been anybody. I don’t even know whom the letter was from and yet I go to the place where it specifies. Stupid Jessie, just stupid. I might as well just call for a ride when I get back to the car or just call a tow......now i'm talking to myself, just great.” She sighed heavily as she continued towards her vehicle.

As the car came into sight, she knew she had closed all the doors but they were open now. Sprinting back to the car she noticed it was much more foggier than before. Before stepping any closer to her car, she was scared to even go near it. She feared the intruder might still be in there. Creeping slowly towards the ransacked car she peered through the open door.

To her satisfaction, the car had looked like no one touched it. Now she looked for her purse, which she thought she threw in the backseat. Once she checked, it was not there. Someone had taken it! Luna was mad now, anger filled her mind. She was mad at herself for being stupid enough to leave her purse in her abandoned car. Now what was she going to do. She had no way of calling anyone, unless she could find a gas station or someplace that had a phone on her way into town. Knowing there was no people down the way she came for miles, she decided to just head towards Silent Hill.

The fog seemed to billow as she walked.....

    Emily

I bent over to look view deep into the trunk of Hailey's car. Sure enough she had bought with her enough weapons to launch a small war, although with the growing strength of monsters over the time and the lack of ammo I was sure this was not to be enough, in fact I would be surprised if the town allowed half of this to actually work.

"Other things?" Hailey asked "Oh you mean the monsters."

I turned to her and nodded before looking over the weapons again. I pulled out everything I could and looked them over. Hailey in turn quickly jumped in afraid I was going to accidentally set off a grenade or something.

"Hey, calm down. Not like you are stupid enough to keep any of these loaded right?" I jokingly asked as Hailey snatched a rifle out of my hand. I turned back into the trunk as Hailey replied

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend it's just that the grenades.." She tried to explain as I picked up a grenade, put one of my finger in the pin gripping tightly and interrupted.

"Are highly explosive and any kind of fooling around can set them off." I mocked, slowly turning looking to get a glimpse on Hailey's face. The look was priceless even through her sunglasses I could see fear that I was going to cause our deaths by recklessness. I slowly pulled my finger out of the ring around the pin and handed the grenade over. "Here you go, I really had you scared there didn't I."

"You damn right you did!" She snapped at me, I guessed this would have been her response before I even started the joke. After she took the grenade I stood up and leaned over the wall facing the lake although in this condition you could not see it.

"I'm sorry, but I needed to let you know how I feel." I sighed out as Hailey stood beside me.

"How you feel, what do you mean?"

"What I mean is, being back here I'm scared for my life and of you know that place." I said to which Hailey put her arm around me for comfort.

"Believe me I know how you feel." She replied in a comforting voice to which I shoved off.

"Do you?" I snapped "Do you really, I doubt it. Yeah you spent time in that place. But what all of ten minutes after which you were taken out, what you saw there was only a glimpse of what it is like. Try being there for a whole week" I stopped and paused for a second. Hailey was clearly taken back she clearly had no idea about that.

"Wait you didn't know?" I asked in shock as a surprised Hailey shook her head "Wow I thought you did. It was terrible, they made me wear nothing but a long black dress. And by nothing I mean nothing; no shoes, no socks, no underwear. Nothing. Add that to the monsters, eternal darkness, helmet head with the giant sword and Alessa's vengeful ghost I was lucky to get out alive."

"And that is why you were stupid to even come back to this place." I jumped and turned to see who it was that interrupted me. Through the fog I could see a familiar face. Hailey on the other hand had pointed her gun at the guy and he did the same to her.

    "Willow, is that you?"

" Well it ain't the tooth fairy." the sarcastic reply assured me that it was him. I placed my hand on the top on Hailey's gun and gently lowered it before doing the same to Willow.

"Both of you it's okay we are all friends here. Willow this is Hailey who I have told you about many times. Hailey this is Willow he is part of Freedom, yadda yadda you know." I allowed the two to get formally introduced before ushering Willow to one side. "Willow why the hell are you here?" I asked in a forceful tone.

"How could I not be, you think I would sit around while you go hand yourself over to them?"

"What do you mean hand myself over. I had no intention of letting them take me back. Why do you think we are here and not actually inside the town itself. You think I would have risked arriving if Hailey had asked to meet actually in the town." Willow put his head down in a semi embarrassment. "Hailey herself knew I would never venture into the town alone and that is why she asked me here. Anyway since you are here now I guess we can put you to good use."

We started to walk back to Hailey when out of the corner of my eye I saw another familiar figure wave at me. I raised my hands up in frustration as he walked towards me.

"Evening, Ms. Jones. Who is your lovely friend?" he asked as he approached

"Professor Vilaw why are you here also. Actually never mind I've been stuck here long enough." I turned back towards the weapons that Hailey had not taken herself and took a simple handgun with Ammo "Okay Willow this is Professor Vilaw, Vilaw this is Willow. Introduced? Good anyway since you two came late you can leave together through Nathan Avenue tunnel. While me and Hailey will take the back lanes through the graveyard into town, take a look around and then meet at Neeley's bar. Any objections take the road back to Ashfield."

Both the men although looking rejected nodded but before they left I whispered silently so no one will hear (OOC: Zera do NOT let you character here this)"Keep an eye on Vilaw, something tells me he is not all that he appears" before letting them walk off.

Turning back towards Hailey I helped her carry some of the weapons she brought with her and headed down the wooded path to the grave yard. "Hey Emily." Hailey shouted to me "Was there any real reason why you wanted the others to go through the tunnel to the town?"

"None." I replied "I just wanted some more private time with my favourite cousin that is all." We both laughed as we continued down the path.

Willow was a bit embrassed at this point but non the less he was glad he came. Finally having seen what Hailey lloked like, he was sure that he would never move to Silent Hill for an early retirement. Although saying that, she was'nt as creepy as she thought she would be. However this Professor Vilaw gave him a totally different vibe, who was he and where had he come from.

'Ok Prof, you heard the lady. Lets go to the bar'

Walking back to his motorbike he looked over to the Professor,
    '
So how do you know Emily?'

'We're old friends' with that he sat in his car and started it up.

Willow, really got the creeps for that dude. Hoping on his bike he started it up and made his way down the road besdie pleasent river. The Professor not far behind him. Emily had told him to keep his eye on the prof, and he was going to. Both eyes.

His surrondings were so odd. Odd not being the word, scary and distorted seemed better. He was'nt completly sure where he was going but he had a small map, and soon found himself going down Wilstre road. Although he soon found himself at a sudden stop. A tree had fallen and blocked the road. There was plently of room for Willow and the prof to go around the tree, but if Willow had'nt stopped day dreaming then he could have killed himself.

'Gotta keep my wits about me in this place'

'Are you ok?' he heard from behind.

Re: Silent Hill: Gates of Hell

OOC: I decided to change my perspective to 1st person.

    ~Jessica~

“Ooh, my feet ache….” I whimpered while trudging on towards Silent Hill, “I knew I shouldn’t have worn my heels. Just my luck too.” Wishing I hadn’t tried to dress nice for the occasion, I couldn’t help but laugh at my situation. As that old saying goes ‘What could go wrong, will go wrong,’ or something like that. I am a stranded 21 year-old woman on a dark desolate road in a dress and heels. I cannot believe this is happening, I don’t even have a ride back. Well at least I shouldn’t have to walk much further, I hope.

Feeling the effects of walking a mile in high-heels, made me want to sit down. Sitting down on the dying grass skirt of the road, I felt relieved. Looking back at what I am doing to get to that damn town, it better be worth it.

“Can this day get any worse,” I said quite exasperated. Unwillingly, I stood back up to walk the rest of the way. This time, I decided to leave my shoes off. The road seemed to stretch on forever. The fog appeared to help it attain such an illusion.

I nearly jumped for joy as the first building came into view. I was quite surprised to see a big neon covered sign with the words Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama through the density of the fog. Another perplexity was that the lights weren’t on. It was still in the afternoon, everyone should be awake. Walking even closer I notice something that nearly made me faint. A hole the size of a small crater was blocking my way further down this street, which is called Nathan Ave. apparently. I gaze down the gaping hole with awe; it looked bottomless. Wondering how deep it really was, I nudged a pebble over the edge with the tip of my foot. After waiting a few seconds for a sound to reverberate back I realize there wasn’t going to be any. That was a large hole.

Keeping my eyes on the hole I started to walk south in to a row of buildings. I was starting to get the creeps now; I didn’t like this town. None of the buildings looked as if they were lived in for years. I turned my gaze in the direction I was walking now. I see something that makes me happy yet again. A gas station! There has to be a phone there for sure. I start to run only to be abruptly stopped in only a few feet. Another hole was in between my objective and me. Maybe there is a way around it. Looking around I saw no way of getting round them. Thinking even more about what to do something caught my eye. One of the buildings bypass the hole on the outside of the fence, I can get around through there. I look up and it was the Pete’s I was just about to head into.
